Singapore – December 19, 2019, / – For eleven days in February (1-11) 2020, this is presented by MAYINART and ARTPODIUM, showcasing works of South East Asian artists, with a focus on predominantly Indonesian artworks from Java island, as well as Indian and leading Singapore artists of the modern era, at the Ion Art Gallery, Singapore.

The featured Masters at the event are Kartika Affandi and Budi Ubrux in addition to artworks of UOB award-winner Januri and Sitompol and Ekta Chandra, winner of the ASEAN Art Award. Established artists like Shan Re, Rudra Gaud, Abhijit Paul and others.

The artworks are priced within an affordable range with the underlying ethos of democratizing the arts landscape to make art accessible to all.

The highlight of the event will be Master Artist Kartika Affandi (daughter of Indonesian Legend Affandi) working on two live works of art for the show, inspired by her travel during the Chinese New year in Singapore early next year. These not to be missed, limited-edition works will be available for sale at the event.

If Walls Could Speak, is an art showcase of works with a focus on upcoming artists from the region who are underrepresented in the art world, juxtaposed with award-winning and Master artists to provide a wholistic view of the art demographic. The event will be held at the Ion Art Gallery, located at 2 Orchard Turn Singapore 238801 (ION Orchard - level 4 next to lobby, A, 238801. The event will be open daily from 11:00 am to 8:30 PM (weekends until 6.00 PM).

About Artist Kartika Affandi and Budi Ubrux:
Kartika Affandi, born in 1930s, when men still dominated the art world, is among a small group of women painters who from the mid-1980s succeeded in exhibiting their works on a regular basis and in gaining limited critical recognition. Kartika's art has been described as unique, ranging from conventional to subversive. Her paintings when viewed up close dissolve into strong, abstract statements in energetically applied impasto oils. She continues to paint to this day and Mayinart and ARTPODIUM are honored to be able to showcase her works at the event.

Ubrux gained international experience when he lived in Switzerland as a billboard artist and painter, before he won the prestigious Phillip Morris Art Award at the Singapore Art Museum in 2000. His works are characterized by mummified figures without faces in newsprint, bringing strong satirical messages and observation on social and political issues. His paintings are alarming and haunting, yet aesthetic and alluring. His works are predominantly concerned about the role of the media and propaganda that come wrapped in nice images and speeches. Budi Ubrux’s works can be found in private collections from across the world.
